For more than half a century, the Orcas Island Lions Club has been at the heart of our community—serving with compassion, generosity, and a shared commitment to making a difference. The 40+ men and women who make up our club aren’t strangers; they’re your friends, your neighbors, and the people you see every day around the island, united by one mission: to serve.
As part of Lions Clubs International—a network of 1.4 million members in 208 countries—we are part of a global force for good, yet our focus begins right here at home. From volunteering and fundraising to hands-on community projects, we work together to meet local needs and support one another in times of challenge.
Our motto is “We Serve”—simple words that guide everything we do. For the Orcas Island Lions Club, it’s not just a slogan; it’s a promise we live out every day.
Our Mission
As a club, Lions empower volunteers by giving them the tools, resources, and support they need to create meaningful change in their own communities and beyond. We work together to address humanitarian needs—whether it’s feeding the hungry, providing vision care, supporting disaster relief, or assisting local families in times of crisis. Through our shared projects, we encourage peace by fostering compassion, kindness, and mutual respect among people from all walks of life. And by connecting with Lions around the globe, we promote international understanding, building bridges across cultures and uniting communities in a common mission of service.
Our Annual Community Events
Orcas Island Easter Egg Hunt – A springtime celebration that delights children and adults alike! Families gather for a lively day filled with colorful egg hunts, joyful laughter, face painting, and festive fun—all wrapped in the warmth of community spirit.
Salmon BBQ Fundraiser – A true Orcas Island tradition! Savor perfectly grilled salmon, mingle with neighbors, enjoy small-town charm, and support local causes. Come hungry, leave with a full heart—and maybe a full plate for seconds!
Lions’ Halloween Tent – Spooktacular fun for all ages! Join us for a night of costumes, games, prizes, and plenty of sweet treats during Eastsound’s Trick-or-Treat celebration. Stop by our tent for a dose of Halloween magic.
Santa Ship at the Orcas Landing – A holiday highlight that lights up December! Santa arrives by boat, greeting excited children and families with free gift bags, festive cheer, and photo opportunities. It’s a magical Orcas tradition that warms even the chilliest winter day.
