The Orcas Island Lions Club has partnered with the Orcas Senior Advisory Committee to provide a free loan program of Mobility Assistance Equipment to Orcas residents who require these devices. This includes items such as canes, walkers, and wheelchairs.
Staffed by volunteers from the Orcas Lions Club, we provide good used equipment that has either been donated to the Senior Center or loaned to us by our sister club, the Bellingham Central Lions Club which operates the Wheelchair Warehouse in Bellingham, The equipment is available to Orcas Island residents of all ages who require it and it is loaned at no cost to the recipient for as long as it is required. We operate from the Multi-Purpose Room at the Orcas Senior Center.
Hours of Operation
The Orcas Lions Club Volunteers are at the Senior Center every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 10:00 am – 11:00 am. We ask that those needing to borrow equipment visit during those hours. In that way, we can endeavor to provide the most appropriate equipment for your situation. For those who have an urgent need or cannot get to the Senior Center during these periods, the Senior Center’s Receptionist Volunteers have access to the equipment.
The following is a list of the main items we normally have available.
- Canes – Adjustable and Adjustable Quad Canes
- Walkers – Orthopedic (load bearing) and Balance
- Manual Wheelchairs
- Transport Wheelchair (available for short term loan, this is a lighter more portable chair for loading into a vehicle)
- Commode Chairs
- Toilet Seat Risers

- Various Other Mobility Assistance Items
Special, low demand items may also be available onsite or we may be able to obtain them from our sister club, the Bellingham Central Lions Club. While we try to maintain stock on hand, due to fluctuations in demand, some items may not be available when you visit.
